Hey! Building a garden actually sounds like a lot of fun! My old neighborhood turned a plot of land into a community garden, but my neighborhood didn't do a very good job of advertising it and I was always too afraid to go in and find out what everyone was growing. Anyway, it is a great way to help the homeless become self-reliant and independent. It is also a wonderful way to help the environment! VistaJames recently got me thinking about how much fuel it costs to drive food to the supermarkets and how much fuel we used to buy groceries. If you want to read more about your ecological footprint, check out this forum. Quick question, do you have pictures of gardens your fraternity has built or videos of your frat brothers and shelter residents hard at work? Post them on your team profile! We'd love to see them! ^_^

Hi Vishal, and welcome to GenV! I live in Seattle, and go to school probably 10 minutes away from the UW - at the interim Garfield High School location. I'm a junior this year, and I'm launching a venture with my youth group that uses art to raise money for homeless people while giving them marketable skills. What it is is an art gallery where regular artists come in and we sell their artwork, and then use the profit to buy art supplies and have homeless people come in and make their own art. We then appraise the it and sell it for them, and give them the money (or keep it in an account for them, depending). Right now we are only geared to youth purely because that is our age and we only have 5 people. If you are interested, please let me know! I woould love to expand the program to include all ages. Please reply quickly if possible, though, as I am probably a week away from submitting the YV action plan.

Have you thought about creating a team profile for Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity? It would be a great way to spread the world about how you're helping the homeless in Seattle and maybe even recruit help.
