ประวัติส่วนตัว
Most high school kids –practically all high school kids- do not exactly “jump” to the exciting thought of doing community service in their spare time over the weekends or after school. Most students in fact, question why community service hours are even required in high school. “Is the school trying to ruin all of my free time?” Well, unfortunately, the answer to that question is if the service hours were not mandatory then sadly, yet truthfully, almost no one would help out in the community at all!
The Opp-Guide to Community Service in Broward County is a review of various community service organizations in the greater-Fort Lauderdale area, FL, written specifically by teens for teens. The reviews written by students, which are honest, sometimes, funny, and candid, help fulfill the missing link between actually enjoying volunteering and merely doing it for the credit. The purpose of the Guide is to make those “required service” hours more meaningful to the students as well as to the organizations they serve. Only by matching a student’s interest with an organization will that be accomplished.

- The Opp-Guide team would like to attract hundreds, if not thousands, of new students to review organizations within Broward County and thereby make the Guide a cultural icon in the community. We are in the process of doing this through the conversion of our current hard-copy guide into a web page database where we will be able to reach more people. Additionally, the students attracted to the web page will be able to submit organization reviews, in return for community service hours. Lastly, the Opp-Guide would like to eventually develop a “best practices manual” so that other communities around the country can replicate this model; or in the alternative, we will generate enough resources so that we can become the catalyst for the replication of the Guides in other communities. We would like to accomplish this also through our web page - allowing us to nationally distribute the Guides. And, furthermore, we would like to eventually work with other nation wide youth based organizations to further build on replicating the Guide.
