There are alot of talented teens in my neighborhood but because of the lack of teen centers and creative outlets, alot have gone down bad paths. I used to chill with alot of them but i write poetry so i found refuge at a place called Urban Word. it's a grassroots non profit organization that lets teens express themselves thru writing. many people volunteer their time to come teach us different aspects of writing and i love it. not only did i find a good way to pass time. i found a family. i want to start a center here that's open to everyone in my community. they opened a teen center in one part of my neighborhood but it's only open to teens in that area. The Center Called Word Play. it's main focus will be music and poetry (spoken word and written). we need a creative outlet here. I would be honored to start one. I'm just hoping that you al are able to help me.

Cynthia, That sounds like a great idea. It really sounds like a place that youth will be able to go and connect with each other. It would be great if you could get some friends together to start pursuing your goal. I think it's definitely something you can do with the support of your friends and community!
