Technology definitely has played a huge impact in all of our lives and it'll only play a larger role in the future. A colleague showed YV staff this slideshow and I thought you all might be interested in seeing it as well. It's so scary (and exciting) to see how far we've come and the potential of technology. Digital technology has definitely played a huge role in my life. I remember when I first learned about the internet. It was so new and I actually tried not to go on it as much. Eventually, it became a huge part of my education. I had to write papers, do research, etc on the computer. Now, my job revolves around the internet and digital forms of communication.
To answer your last question, one way to use digital technology to benefit the community is to create a mobile or online game about social entrepreneurship! :-) Here's some information about a recent partnership:

Youth Venture and PETLab recently created a partnership, to give 5-10 Venturers in New York the opportunity to play a significant role in launching a game that can possibly be used to engage and recruit new Venturers Globally!!! PETLab is the first public-interest game design and research laboratory for interactive media to determine how technologies are changing the way young people learn, play, socialize, and participate in civic life.
