We here at Youth Venture have launched a new and exciting partnership with an organization called Blue Planet Run. We're looking for interested youth to start Venture Teams around the topic of clean water in the developing world. If you're interested in this topic, or know anyone who is, check out the Blue Planet Run website here, or contact Rob Alexander of Youth Venture here.
This is an exciting opportunity, but time is limited. The Run starts June 1, and we're looking for teams in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, St. Louis, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. So if you or your friends are interested, or know anyone who might be interested, contact me soon.
Thanks everyone, and keep making a difference
Re: Blue Planet Run
Wow, I'm shocked that the number is so high-- 2.2 million people per year die from a lack of drinking water! Whoa!
What do you need help with-- actual teams to run, or can folks do things remotely (distribute posters, or something in their areas)?
Re: Blue Planet Run
Actually, we're trying to identify youth in the target cities who might be interested in starting a team. The teams would support the runner through their city with fundraising activities, and would be responsible for coming up with another activity related to either water issues, water education or the village they are partnered with.
There are always other opportunities, and you can find those at the Teen Board section of the Blue Planet Run website.
Thanks

Re: Blue Planet Run
There is a venture called "Simply Pure Water" that I was on the selection panel for. I don't know if they have created a profile on the site but they were connected to the New York office I believe. They had a great plan to distribute functional knowledge around water filtration systems to rural Africans.
Re: Blue Planet Run
I would very interested in joining a team set up around this idea. Count me in!
Personally, I could assist with organizing activities, doing research, marketing, and fundraising in the Seattle area, just not all at once.
