The revolutionary idea behind Ashoka’s Youth Venture is that everyone has the power to change the world. Venturers are standing up in more than fifteen countries and taking action for what they believe in. But the Venturers aren’t the only changemakers – Team members, YV Mentors, Panelists, and generous donors all make up the backbone of this global movement.

What burns you? Do you have the courage to do something about it? Whether you know it or not, you have the power to make real change happen. We’ll help you start your own initiative, project, or organization based on the issue you care most about. You’ll get guidance, expert mentoring, and a grant of up to Rs 10,000. As you lead your Venture, you’ll join forces with thousands of other young people who are working to make their communities, the countries, and their world a better place.
In the process, you’ll develop the initiative, teamwork, and empathy to be a leader throughout the rest of your life.

At the core of every Venture is a Team. All Ventures are made up of at least two people, and Team members take on any kind of role imaginable. They build strategy, do marketing, run outreach – whatever is needed to make the Venture a success.

Before launching, Teams present their Venture plans to a Panel of leaders from across sectors. The role of the Panel is to facilitate introspection. Panelists are critical in helping these young people fill gaps in their plans and prepare for the challenges they will face.
Panelists receive regular updates from their Teams after they launch. The connection between Team and Panelists often develops into something sustainable and long-lasting. Plus, Panels are an opportunity to network with other professionals dedicated to social change. The Panel experience is rewarding and inspiring for everyone involved.

The YV Mentorship program connects Venturers with professionals who share their passion and conviction. Mentors have a non-controlling stake in the Ventures they support – they help guide Venturers to solutions rather than solving the problem themselves. In the process, Mentors take the changemaker within themselves to a new level.

Donors are the pillars of our community of changemakers. For one young person have the transformational Youth Venture experience, the cost - including seed capital, workshops, events and support - is Rs 60,000.
