Teen Explosion was launched in 2008 by Randy and Rosanna from Queens, NY.What began as a class project soon became a reality for them. The ultimate goal of Teen Explosion is to have an after school program. The team wants to provide a safe environment for children to go to. They realized that many children are left home alone after school with no adult supervision. Teen Explosion willprovide tutoring services, sports and other activities for children after their school day. Until the day they can run the program full time, theteam will have fun activities and events for the teenagers in the community instead. The events will include block parties, carnivals, haunted houses and more. Teen Explosion will also help other children complete their own YV Action Plans. This team will be an example that if you set your mind to it, you can achieve it. The team will spend part of its seed grant on the first event, a Carnival/Haunted House for Halloween. They will spend the rest of the grant on a computer and printer to help the children with creating their own Action Plans. Teen Explosion will also rely on donations from local businesses to sustain itself.

Hand & Heart was launched in July 2008. Since the launch, Hand & Heart has grown into an approved and registered charitable organization, and is currently in the process of being approved for 501c3 status. Hand & Heart Organization strives to empower groups of people who are unable to fully prosper due to illness, disability, oppression, discrimination, poverty, and the violation of human rights, by putting in place structures that enable people to empower themselves. These structures are, but not limited to, agriculture, livestock, education and proper healthcare. The goal is to, one project at a time, transform the most rural and deprived villages into self-sustaining working communities that are run and maintained by the people living in the community themselves. Hand & Heart’s first and current project is called “The Botshabelo Project”. The goal is to enable the founders of the Orphanage to achieve their dreams and goals they have for transforming Botshabelo Aids Orphanage/Village, located in Magaliesburg South Africa, into a self-sustaining working community. Hand & Heart will do this through fundraising in the US, and partnering with organizations such as Heifer International (South Africa) and Mama Maria Clinic, Keep A Child Alive etc.

HerAgenda.com is a revolutionary site inspiring girls to be focused on what they want to accomplish in life without letting obstacles stand in their way.  Our site gives back to the community of young women across the country by allowing girls to express themselves, develop, grow and learn.  The mission of HerAgenda.com is to inspire and empower women both young and old to never let anyone slow their agenda.  This will be done through the establishment of our blog/networking site which will showcase thirty women’s power agendas while simultaneously allowing other females to sign up for their own blogs and showcasing events, internships and scholarships to help move their agenda along.  The site will highlight 30 bloggers under the title “Power Agendas,” each representing a specific aspect of female leadership in areas including, but not limited to, education, politics, entertainment, beauty and science.  Too many young women do not have good examples to ever gain the capacity to dream big.  A lot of girls are not exposed to females in power.  Through the blogs, they will be able to see women living successful happy lives who are not on the covers of every magazine.  They are the women who make moves but are otherwise unknown to the mainstream public. The girls will be able to establish their own blogs just like the women who are apart of the Power Agendas and go on to create their own ‘power agendas.’

The purpose of the Pro Justice Work team is to bring awareness to the systematic oppressions in our world today. Pro Justice facilitates discussions on racism, sexism, classism and imperialism as a way for participants to realize where they fit in as a target or an agent, and how they can become allies for the targets of oppression. The Pro Justice Work team hopes to inspire youth to become the change they wish to see in the world. Last year we were two of those facilitators. We have gained knowledge on these issues as well as an understanding of how each issue should be approached during facilitation. That knowledge and understanding was taught to us by adult leaders from a leadership program, and gained through our experiences. Rather than rely on adult-led leadership training, we are putting into place a mechanism to have young people leading these trainings for facilitators. In this first year, we will assume that role, but future trainings will be done by members of this year's facilitator group. The vision is that by providing training and the opportunity to become leaders within the program, we will establish a cycle through which youth gain experience and, in turn, become leaders. In this way, we will set up a system of leadership to have Youth Teaching Youth for Pro Justice forever.
