Shailaja and her team-members want to break the inequality between men and women in Basti, their hometown.

Through "Kanya Jagriti", Shailaja reaches out to Basti families and discusses the steps they must take so that their daughters can enjoy successful futures. Kanya Jagriti helps place girls who have dropped out of school in vocational programs; Shailaja also hosts events in which female professionals reach out to the community and motivate young women to pursue paths of education and employment.
