Youth Venture

Hey all my name is Erich and I am trying to make a difference. I am fourteen and I attend MPA in Maplewood, MN. Please let me know if you have any good ideas to help premote literacy and how to raise money. My group is called the First Five Pages. We are trying to get more kids who live in middle class and below to read more. This is centered around kids ages 0-5. It is proven that kids that are in lower class read less than kids in upper class living styles, and it is our goal to try and change that.

Our current project is this:
At my school, the six grade class writes and illustrates their own picture books. We want to take a copy of 5 or 6 really good ones and take the student and have them read to kids at a daycare called HeadStart. Then we will possibly make CDs of the children reading the book so the toddlers can listen while reading. Then we will donate these books to the HeadStart. That is our current proposal, that got passed!
