That is a huge project you want to take on. Have you tried talking to Habitat for Humanity and asking them for suggestions?

I'm not really sure about getting a place. Have you thought about how big a place you need? Office or house? You can try contacting the real estate agency near you, sometimes they hold auctions. However, it can get very expensive because after all we are talking about New York here. Another suggestion is to check www. craiglist.org, because they have listings of local rentals. Their prices are pretty affordable. In the mean time, I will think of another alternative. Good luck!
