Become a YV Ambassador!

Youth Venture® is looking for YV Ambassadors - outstanding YVers representing a variety of backgrounds and possessing a broad range of interests and goals that have a strong interest in helping us strengthen the movement of young changemakers. By sharing stories of their own life-changing experience, Ambassadors seek to engage and inspire other youth to launch their own community-benefiting Ventures. We are looking for Venturers who are strong public speakers and enjoy sharing their personal and Venture stories. YV Ambassadors are critical to the growth and strength of the Youth Venture network. Ambassadors regularly blog, share ideas and tips, and invite young people to join online discussions on variety of issues.

Opportunities could include:
-Giving presentations and representing YV at conferences.
-Speaking to local and national media and sharing personal stories.
-Participating in YV campaigns and special initiatives. Examples of past efforts include the Road Trip -America, the National Starbucks Tour, YV Events at Nike Stores, etc.
-Participating in a variety of local/regional YV events such as gatherings, panels, etc.
-Mentoring other young people to launch their social ventures.
-Prospects with various media outlets, etc.

Venturers who are selected to be US Ambassadors will be invited to attend a special training at the National Youth Venture Summit on June 26th- 29th at MIT and Boston University in Boston, MA (some costs apply).

The Sierra Student Coalition offers summer trainings for high school and college students who want to build their skills and become the next generation of environmental leaders. The week-long experience focuses on grassroots campaign training for campus and community projects, particularly around global warming and the clean energy future. Your trainers are fellow student leaders in the climate movement - I'm honored to be one of them. There are also 9 other SPROGs this summer all across the Country, but the one July 17-24 is the closest one at Head of the Rapids in St. Croix State Park MN.

Summer of Solutions: June 1-August
If you're looking for a whole summer of grassroots organizing experience to help out on cutting edge climate action initiatives and build your skills to lead the transition to a post-carbon society, join us for the Summer of Solutions, founded and run by a group of Minnesota students. This two month program will unite young people from around the country to form a national team to build real climate solutions in our communities. You'll get to define where you want to go with the program and work with pioneering youth facilitators who will help you build the skills you need to create climate solutions in your communities. Participants will be supported through fundraising and special grants and stipends, some of which are only available to students in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

How awesome that politicians are sitting up and taking notice of volunteerism and changemakers :)

The Special Guest teleconference workshops are hosted every other Monday at 7:30pm EST over a FREE conference line. The calls are open to all Venturers across the U.S.

Each call focuses on a different topic or issue related to Venturing, such as marketing, fundraising, and community building, as well as issue areas such as multicultural awareness. On each call, an adult professional and a guest Venturer share their experiences and advice on the topic, which is followed by a question & answer session with the rest of the call participants. See topics below.

If you would like to register to participate in a workshop or have questions about the program, please e-mail technicalally@youthventure.org or call 703-600-8346.
