Youth Venture

We bring education to underprivileged children so that they can have successful futures.

In the spring of 2006, two high school freshmen from different schools, Whitney and Jennifer, decided that they wanted to form an organization to promote education for all children. We were unsure of what to should focus on, but later decided that we wanted to educate children in youth shelters and hospitals by sending them care packages with books and educational activities in them. We also wanted to meet with the kids and mentor them to motivate them for their future. Whitney decided on the name Generation Education because in order for our generation to be successful, we must improve their education so that they can make the right choices for the future. In the summer of 2006, we searched for ways to implement our ideas, which was when Jennifer discovered Youth Venture. She filled out the application and added another member, her friend Heejung from school, to GenEd. Our organization works with Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange and All Church Home for Children, and we have planned multiple activities, such as a food drive and a book drive, with members of the Mandarin Chinese School. We have also just recently added another member, Beatrice, from Whitney's high school. This summer we plan to organize the donations and supplies we have collected and distribute them to underpriveleged children all through the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We also hope to build a larger network from the many schools in our area.
