My name is Kaylin. My family moved to New Orleans last summer and I have fallen in love with the city. Hurricane Katrina hit August 29, 2005 and the effects of it are still seen throughout the area. Specifically, the repercussions of the storm in St. Bernard Parish makes it seem like the storm was just a month or two ago. It is east and slightly south of New Orleans and due to the fact that it is right along the Mississippi Gulf Outlet the flooding was one of the worst compared to other ares. I have decided to respond to the need in St. Bernard Parish. My charity is R.E., which stands for Respond Effectively. I want to help families in this parish rebuild hearts, homes, and lives.
