About Us

Child Rights Working Group at Columbia University

The Child Rights Working Group is a campus-wide network of students from graduate and undergraduate programs and schools at Columbia University dedicated to furthering discussion and knowledge on children’s rights. Students involved in the Child Rights Working Group come from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia School of Law, Mailman School of Public Health, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Barnard College, Columbia College, the School of Social Work, the School of General Studies and Teacher’s College. The Child Rights Working Group organizes four events per semester, culminating in a day-long conference with prominent speakers from the field each spring.
Our main goal is to broaden the current knowledge on children’s rights, both within the Columbia community and beyond. We hope that our group will not only raise awareness on campus, but will also create lasting partnership among students, leading to opportunities of mentorship between older and younger students and thus, to a larger realm of activism. Eventually we wish to create a community of students that will discuss, be aware of, and act to ensure the protection of children’s rights worldwide.
