I am a African American female who started her youth venture project in August 2005, and we have been going strong. I am in the 7th grade in the Dougherty County School System in Albany, Georgia. I am a member of the Mount Early Missionary Baptist Church, I am the founder and organizer of Youth in Action for Healthy Lifestyles in Albany, Georgia. I am one of those children who are least asked to participant in programs, activities, etc. I have several disabilities (ADHD, Depression with Anxiety, Learning, Stomach problems, allergies, asthma)

Goals

I launched a venture more than a year ago and want help to keep it going and growing
I have started a venture and want to share insights
I want to reach out to YV alumni
I want to use my venture to address the community needs against community peer pressures.

Collaboration and Exchange Fund-- Want to work with another venture group? The Youth Venture Challenge Pot offers the opportunity for two or more Ventures to connect and collaborate with each other ona new project in the United States. This year, our selection Committee will be offering $5,000 in collaboration funds!!

Hi! Just dropping by to wish you a happy new year! Also, you have a great venture!! ^_^ I'm curious to know how you define community peer pressure. How is obesity, poor nutrition, chronic diseases, etc community peer pressure? I look forward to learning more about your views! Best wishes for a wonderful 2008!!!

Hi,

I think a great resource for you is the Grow It section of the website. Your venture is a great idea. There is a venture that does something similar to what you are doing with seniors. They bring in laptops or use computers at assisted living centers and teach seniors how to send emails and use the internet. This helps them stay in better contact with their family members and remain aware of what's happening in the world. Perhaps you could try something like this?
