Presidential News Conference

During the summer of 2009, there was a Presidential News Conference. Here are a few key notes that I was able to gather up:

1) If you are content with the health insurance you have, you can stay with that plan.
2) The new health reform will hopefully be in action before this year ends.
3) The new health reform not only affects the financial aspects of health care but the "delivery" as well (meaning better conditions at hospitals, better treatment from doctors & nurses, etc.).
4) The new health reform will significantly improve for senior citizens.

The New Yorker

During the community panel that Educare to React had to present at to make this organization possible, one of the Youth Venture staff gave me a copy of The New Yorker, a popular magazine I'm sure you guys all heard of. In this particular edition there was a very engaging article about healthcare. As I read it, it made me feel more passionate about achieveing our mission of universal healthcare. If you're interested in one of the many inspirations that continues to motivate this organization please this article. The article is titled Getting There From Here by Atul Gawande.
