Youth Venture

In June 2007, I joined the Youth Venture Team as an AmeriCorps VISTA Bilingual Program Specialist in the Brooklyn, New York regional office. I recently graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz, with a B.A. in Community Studies and a minor in Education. My ultimate aspiration is to work with the community in the field of Social Work and become an Elementary School Teacher. A year ago, I had the opportunity to complete a field study in Time Square with a non-profit organization called the All Stars Project Inc. The All Stars is an organization that empowers youth through performance and gives them "cosmopolitan experiences", in order to develop and go beyond the limits of their environment! To become a successful Social Worker and Elementary School Teacher, I believe that being knowledgeable about various theories and practices can aim for greater success and empowerment in a community.
