Bio
The Met Center is a network of six small public high schools in Providence, RI. All Met students have tailored curricula and apply their academic learning at internships in the community. To date, The Met has inspired a national network of 30 similar schools, all founded by The Big Picture Company.
I’m an Americcorps VISTA working with Youth Venture and The Big Picture Co, based at the MET school on Peace St. By combining the resources of Y.V. and B.P. we’re creating a hybrid of youth activism that will let students to take their projects to a whole new level. Once started this model will spread to the other B.P. schools throughout the nation.
Goals
- I want to reach out to YV alumni
- I’m looking for any YV alumni in the Rhode Island area that might be interested in talking to high-school students about their ventures and what it was like going through the process.
