Bio

I recently launched a venture that is dedicated to helping the children living in orphanages in the Houston area. Right now I'm at a point where I can't make the right connections to get the whole program off the ground. If there is anyone out there who would like to join in on my efforts I would LOVE to hear from you. If you would like to know more about my venture you can keep reading.

FUTURES...it all starts with a single moment. Each new second is the FUTURE.

Futures is a non profit organization aiming to empower young orphans to not give up on life. Futures will provide the orphans with a caring person to confide in when they feel the need, their pen pal, or just someone to write to about anything. The orphans will each be interviewed so that Futures’ Volunteers may draft their biographies to note their “beginning point”. Throughout the year of 2008 Futures will hold various donation drives, fundraisers and raffles to donate money to the orphanage. In the month of October, Futures will re-draft the initial biographies of the orphans to display their changes in attitude and the impact of the program on their lives. These stories will be compounded into a presentation given at the “appreciation dinner” to show every person that made a contribution exactly what they contributed to. By the end of the 2008, Futures is estimating an overall donation of $2,760.00 to the orphanage. Each year Futures will invest in aiding one more orphanage with one more school to increase impact and income for donations to the orphanage and Futures funding.

How we hope to impact the community?

The children in the orphanage are the future of our communities because all of them are so young. Our communities are already impoverished and they don’t seem to be improving. If we can create a positive culture of orphans, that everyone already assumes is going to fail, and give them the tools to succeed, and aid them in their success, then our communities are sure to improve. Thus, proving to the orphans and the community that they can do it, that the community can improve.

Hey there, here's another welcome to the genV community. Your venture sounds AMAZING... it's a very inspired idea. I would check out the dream it and grow it pages for tips on networking and sustainability, and also look out for any upcoming Technical Ally phone calls that might pertain to your situation. Good luck with your work, and always feel free to ask me for suggestions or help!
