Hi. My name is Linda and I'm the Presdent of a nonprofit organization. =] I'm currently a student at Bernard Baruch College studying management. In February, my friends and I launched a youth venture called Chair Advocates in brooklyn area. Our mission is to raise awareness of different types of adaptive and assistive technology available to people with mobility impairments. Chair Advocates also offer financial assistance to families of people with disabilities who has low income. Young Wheelers In Need is our first project initiated after Chair Advocates is officially established. For this project, CA board members goes to different Junior and High Schools in Brooklyn to conduct workshops and recruit students who might be interested in what Chair Advocates can offer. In addition, one of our goals for this project is to work with Occupational and Physical Therapists and ensure students are using the right adaptive equipments for their type of disability. We also provide free workshops and peer mentoring to all our clients.

I just want to say I LOVE Youth Venture. It feels great knowing I can make a difference in my community. Besides Youth Venture, I love blogging (myspace, xanga, facebook), movies (korean drama, chick flicks, and comedy! ) and definitely hanging out with my F~R~I~E~N~D~S!

Aaliya has a venture idea (summer youth development program centering around fashion design) and she doesn't know what her next steps are. Maybe you can offer some advice and point her in the right direction?
