Bio
So I thought I would make my profile actually reflect who I am.
I did attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania for psychology and women’s studies. I am currently in the midst of a year with Americorps VISTA at Youth Venture. And I do like to hike, read books, make "radical" furniture, and question all of your assumptions. But there is a lot more to me – things that paint a much more accurate picture of who I am.
Most importantly, I am queer. What that means to me is that the mainstream gay movement does not reflect my values - I feel alienated from the community and I don’t wish to be identified as a willing participant. I find the mainstream gay movement to be racist and classist. I hate that it upholds the traditional gender roles that I wish to escape and that it expects me to look and behave like the traditional stereotype of a lesbian, instead of the dynamic, fluid, genderhacking queer that I am.
I am a bit of an anarchist and am very anti-corporate. Activism is a huge part of my life. I come from rural folk. This city thing is getting to me already … I miss trees and green space. I miss going outside to be completely alone. I miss walking everywhere barefoot.
I love life, but I am outraged most of the time.
