Youth Venture

Hi everyone! We're from Merrimack, NH and our venture is called Pure Water Vending and you can learn more at www.purewatervending.org

It all started with a video we watched at school on contaminated water and wanted to do something about it. The statistics that disturbed us the most was that 6,000 children die each day due to drinking contaminated water. We got donations and were able to purchase a vending machine to put in our dance studio. The money we make in our vending machine gets donated to Pure Water for the World. They build purification systems for families in Honduras! We used our YouthVenture grant money to purchase start up costs such as water bottles, advertisement supplies, and other materials to create an awesome sustainable business! :)

We had a grand opening May 16, 2008. Since then we have sold 842 bottles at $1.00 each and counting! (Last updated: November 20, 2008)

• Our Venture is one of 30 finalists in the Best Buy Challenge. Please see what we've done and consider voting for our project! We want to provide matching money for 4 or 5 more vending machines to get more community groups and young people involved. We hope to work with Rotary Clubs, scout troops and other community groups to help spread the word about contaminated water and how easy it is to help save children's lives through working with Pure Water for the World.
