Bio

Hi everyone, I'm the YSA Youth Venture Partnership Associate. Basically, that means I run the Youth Venture Program at Youth Service America (YSA) and utilize all of YSA's networks and resources to reach as many youth as I can to join our program.
My main responsibilities include running the application cycles for the program, pursuing funding opportunities for Venture teams, and generally providing support and guidance to the teams to make sure they are successful and sustaining.
In my free time you can find me with my nose in a book, planning my next international adventure, experimenting in the kitchen or learning new dance moves.

Hi Maha! Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you yet, I've been pretty sick.

In January 2008, Wild and Water will be expanding to New Orleans. Our goal for this initiative, along with our regular mission to teach kids how to swim and be safe around water, is to prepare the economically disadvantaged children of New Orleans for any sort of flood, hurricane, etc. We hope to teach them about safety in such situations, and by teaching them to swim, hope to decrease panic and increase confidence in such situations.

What we're looking at doing is having a whole school have their PE class with us at the University of New Orleans, which would mean we need a lot of money. I was hoping that there were some grants out there directed toward rebuilding a community and perhaps finding an innovative way to lessen the severity of any future hurrican problem.

If you're the new YSA Youth Venture Partnership Associate, does that mean that you're the person that we contact with questions about our ventures? (I never could get all of the titles straight.) :)
