Bio

Hello, my name is John Dillman and I am a Program Associate at the New England Regional office in Concord. I graduated from Colorado College in 2007 and recently returned from a six-month stint in Nepal, I learned of Ashoka and heard about a program looking to promote the model among youth. After reading about some of the venturers and their projects, I decided I wanted to help. So...here I am!

I grew up just a short hop away in Portland, Maine. In my free time I like to mountain bike and play tennis. I also enjoy cooking (though many of my dishes don't always turn out as planned), traveling, and meeting new people.

Goals

  • I want to help out a venture
  • I want to reach out to YV alumni
  • I believe that the world requires new thinking and new ideas to confront its challenges. My goal for the next year and beyond will be about helping people get such ideas off the ground. I also hope to do what I can to encourage more people to join the fray. The more of us, the better, right?

John,
I met Kumar and Suri...they are really nice so thank you for giving me a heads up! Also, kids from 8 different states are now looking to get involved with Spread the Dough. I am planning on using the venture money for creating new chapters of Spread the Dough. I want to get it in every state within the next 3 years. I think I can do that with ease if I get national coverage. I am contacting Billy Shore per suggestion of Mr. Drayton to see how he can help. The summit is amazing and I will be in touch as far as my venture goes!

Hey John, welcome to YV, the Concord office is a interesting place, unfortunately I don’t make it up there as often as I’d like. Where in Nepal where you? I spent some time in Katmandu and loved it, I’m looking forward to working with you. Take care [:o)

hey john - thanks for the warm welcome! i'm really excited about joining the YV New England team - I've been working with the YV National office in Virginia so I think it will be so fun to help YV in other parts of the country. I am a little apprehensive about the winters, but its so unbelievably hot here in Maryland right now that I'm actually looking forward to going up North. And i'm probably going back home for JanPlan and winter break so that will be fun. It sounds like you're doing amazing work - I definitely think there is a greater need for post-launch support at Youth Venture. I'm helping with the YV Summit this summer too and I think it would be great to have local venture gatherings too. My family and I are driving up to Colby the week of August 26, 2008 and we're passing through New Hampshire. Maybe I could drop by the New England office and visit you guys in person! :)
