Bio
I'm from Nicaragua, I'm studying Industrial engineering in the National University of engineering and also I'm studying Law in the Central America University. I I work with ATPADES that is an NGO that works in a development sustainable program in my city. In the beginning was a little hard to balance my time with school, but my work is volunteer so I do it only in my free times when I’m not at school.
I’m an activist; I’m a volunteer of the Environmentalist Youth Organization, United Nations, and the National organization of youth and children, sponsored by Save the Children Canada. Also I work with a group of students in my university organizing activities to help poor people. I worked as a volunteer in the project: HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS-HEALTHY CHILDREN in Nicaragua, with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), World Health Organization, Public Health and the environment (WHO), Healthy environment for Children’s Alliance, UNICEF, The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) and others. Our Task more important was the building a world in which all of our children can grow up to realize their full potential in health, peace, and dignity. We went to many communities in the country teaching people about the importance to have a healthy environment, and giving them the necessary resources to do it.
I participated in the National earth congress as a facilitator, i was teaching visitants correct behaviors and giving them the information they need to deal with problems in their own community. So I was increasing the chances that they will, in turn, learn to provide safer home and schools environments for their own children someday. In my community, for example, illegal garbage dumping was a big problem, so me and others volunteers met with community members, and were successful in changing behaviors in the community through education. Illegal garbage is no longer problem in the community. I’m a member since 2000 of the Environmentalist Youth Organization working side-by-side with other members to improve environmental conditions, and have also helped to implement plans and programs that will enrich the lives of those around me.
I’m an action partner of Oxfam International Youth Partnership and participated in the kaleidoscope, event held in Sydney. Over 300 young leaders from over 90 countries came together to develop our skills, knowledge and initiatives to address relevant local, national and global issues. I’m a member of the International Network of Ecoclubes, and I had participated in the Latin American youth leadership congress of Ecoclubes in Bolivia and Costa Rica. I worked in Guatemala for the human Right defense against poor people who lived working on the streets, and were insulted and cleared. I organized a protest with other organization and the Central Youth Parliament against drugs, violence and discrimination. I participated in the Central American HIV/AIDS Congress in Nicaragua this Year, and had the opportunity to know and share experience with people who were HIV +. I’m a member of International Association for volunteer effort and participated in the International Volunteer Conference in Panama on April 2008. I participated in the 4Th World Youth Congress in Quebec C, Canada in August 2008, aslo I was selected as a Youth Action Ambassador for Young People We Care in Nicaragua.
I participated in some conferences in Spain with Intermon Oxfam, about how climate change affects Nicaragua and how Young peopl take actions to make a change.
Now I'm working with ATPADES in the project " Reforestando nos estamos Salvando"
