Thanks for your message! I'm excited that your interested in contributing to the YV movement in this way. Below is a little more information about the program. Please e-mail me at technicalally@youthventure.org and we can communicate more about the volunteer opportunities with the YV Technical Ally program! Amie, my colleague in our Mid-Atlantic regional office, will be leading the program from now on and you can also reach her at this e-mail address. (I just realized you probably aren't going to go back to the Technical Allies profile to read my response, so I'm posting it on your profile ;)

Best,

TECHNICAL ALLIES: THE PROGRAM

As a Technical Ally, you will play a vital role in supporting young people across the United States as they start, lead, and sustain community minded organizations, clubs, or businesses. Technical Allies share their experience and knowledge with our burgeoning entrepreneurs who may need assistance in such areas as business planning, professional development, fundraising, media contact, community organizing, as well as information about issues such as globalization, violence prevention, and cultural awareness.

Technical Allies can be lawyers, artists, business men and women, writers; anyone with acquired skills and who is willing to share them with our young people. As veteran entrepreneurs work with young leaders, we can build a broader community of youth–adult partnerships.

Special Guests
The Special Guests program presents an opportunity for Venturers to ask practiced entrepreneurs and experienced Venturers specific questions pertaining to their technical field in a workshop atmosphere. The workshops are one hour in length, are held over the phone, and are facilitated by a Youth Venture staff member. The Special Guest event is an excellent opportunity for Technical Allies with limited time to reach young Venturers. (Time Commitment: 1 hour, plus preparation time)

E-Advisors
E-Advisors are committed to responding to Venturers’ questions via email. Based on technical fields, Youth Venture staff will relay emails from Venturers to appropriate Allies who can answer their question within forty-eight hours. Venturers and Technical Allies will direct emails to TechnicalAlly@youthventure.org. E-Advisors require Technical Allies to have a long-term but flexible commitment with Youth Venture. The strength of a TA’s impact on young Venturers is dependent upon his/her level of involvement and dedication. (Time Commitment: 3-5 hrs/month)
