Youth Venture

My name is Becky Cyganiewicz and I have lived in New England for most of my life. I have been an Americorps Vista since June 2006, coordinating the United Way-Youth Venture partnership in Massachusetts along with Mount Wachusett Community College and 13 area schools. I graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations on Literature, History and Renaissance studies. Before becoming a Vista for YV, I was a park ranger for the Boston Harbor Islands State Park. I now enjoy helping young people achieve their dreams through Youth Venture. They inspire me to continue to reach for my own.

I am driven by the power of music, and enjoy listening to folks such as My Morning Jacket, the Strokes, Nick Drake, John Lennon, Modest Mouse, the Arcade Fire, Johnny Cash, Viva Voce, Band of Horses, Cat Power to name a few...:) I also love the changing of the seasons, kayaking, traveling, photography, painting and my three kitties, Jack, SuzieQ, and Papoose.

I believe that everyone has the responsibility and the ability to better themselves and their communities.
I believe in working together to create a better future for all, and I truly appreciate all those who are willing to try.
