Este grupo se armo para llevar adelante una tarea que nadie en nuestra provincia lo puede hacer solo lo hacen pero es muy costoso, nos enteramos de Avancemos y analizamos la situacion de nuestra comunidad con el apoyo de la Biblioteca decidimos montar y crear nuestro grupo de trabajo "Enseñando por un Futuro Mejor" en nuestra biblioteca.

We knew we wanted to make a change in our community, but there weren’t many opportunities to help us get started. Then, a youth venture presentation came to our school, and informed us on what we could do. This presentation made us want to give back to the community. We all love children and thought birthday parties would be the perfect way to give needy kids what they deserve.

Esta propuesta impulsada por el Ecoclub hoy ya se implementa. Nuestra actividad consiste en documentar los lugares de destino de los claustros de pilas e incentivar, velar y dar a conocer la iniciativa para que la población en su totalidad de involucre.
Nuestro proyecto no ofrece una solución al problema de la contaminación por parte de las pilas y baterías sino una alternativa para su disposición final. Los beneficios del proyecto son a largo plazo. Nuestro trabajo consiste además en controlar el estado de los claustros.

I attend California State University, Chico and it was a few months ago when I was struggling to find a balance between finishing my final projects, and studying for final exams when a letter arrived notifying me I had to find a new place to live. My rental lease had expired. Panicked, I took to the internet. I found it nearly impossible to find the results I was looking for and was forced to pursue my search on foot and via the telephone. The problem that I found on the internet was that rental agency sites didn’t have updated listings or that their sites lacked content.

We came up with the idea in 2007 when one of our group members who tutored and did art projects with children in the Rochester City School District, saw how talented the children were and how important it was that they had the opportunity to create art.

So, we decided to devise a way for children to use their own work to raise funds for cultural events in Rochester. Our project involves collecting artwork from children in the Rochester city school district, printing it onto canvas bags, and selling the bags to raise money for art events and supplies for children.

ALMAS is an all Latina girls group started in Gresham High School in Gresham, Oregon. ALMAS is a group where members, mentor one another, morally support each another, strive for high education, encourage one another to finish high school and go on to college and learn about our cultural identity. We decided to start the ALMAS program because we saw a drastic rise in the number of dropouts; we also saw the numbers of teen pregnancies rise. We want to lower both of these statistics. ALMAS also strives to see more Latinos in high paying jobs.

Apsurd started as youth Venture that created social, environmental, and animal-right themed shirts to sell. Shirt sales raised awareness proceeds went to organizations committed to these causes.

Not all things went as planned and we encountered many "harder than anticipated" obstacles primarily associated with the business side of our venture. By trying to print, design, sell, and market everything, we had a long way to go.

Now we also sell jewelry to sustain our business. We teach at Girl's inc and New Generations. Girl's inc is an afterschool program for girls that is a safe place for them to go. New Generations is a shelter for homeless pregnant women.

The BHS Green Scene's mission currently is to make sure that all potential recyclables at their school are taken care of appropriately and in an environmentally friendly way. They have conquered several hurdles in getting their white and colored office paper handled properly. They are also beginning to assume responsibility for other recyclables such as bottles and cans for which they've been told that they will recieve any money that is made from the recycling of the cans.

Tudo começou com uma campanha de arrecadação de livros relâmpago em 2005 por 17 grupos escoteiros onde foram arrecadados cerca de 4000 livros. Os 4 jovens escoteiros que formam a equipe, sendo 3 voluntários e 1 funcionário do Instituto Cidadania Ativa, observaram a falta de bibliotecas na região eo incentivo à leitura, e a quantidade imensa de escolas e comunidades carentes nos arredores. Então tiveram a iniciativa de montar uma biblioteca comunitária, onde além de acesso a leitura houvessem atividades diversificadas para estimular a leitura.

We decided to start this project when we learned that the number of people who volunteer to help foster children has gone downin the past year. We wanted to provide something for the foster children that not only brings comfort, but is also something that they can call their own. We will make the blankets during Interact Club and will bring finished blankets to foster homes. In order to raise money for future blankets will sell blanket sponsorships and will hold at least one fundraiser a year. If you want to know more let us know!

We started the team after seeing that so many kids needed a safe place to be a part of. In our area the only activities were school based activities. If you did not play sports or make it into the school play or chorus then you fell through the cracks. We knew that these were the kids that would be at risk and wanted to provide them with a safe positive place to be. We are doing Broadway Revues, picking songs from 4 different shows, rehearsing and performing them for the community. Everyone that auditions for our shows gets a part.

Our team, Build a Bear to Show You Care, started out as a Roots and Shoots group in November 2006. Roots and Shoots is a community service program started by Jane, in which you help the environment, animals, and the human community. We applied for a grant from Youth Venture in December, and were ecstatic to find out we had gotten it in February. Build a Bear to Show you care is our community program. We are delivering Build a Bears to our local Ronald McDonald House, along with hosting a Halloween Party, and making a holiday donation.

Roots and Shoots is an organization founded by Jane Goodall to help the environment, wildlife/animals, and the human community. In December 2006, we applied for a grant from Youth Venture. When February came around, we were thrilled to find out that we had earned a $750 grant, after an over-the-phone conference (which was very stressful for a few members of the group who dislike the telephone).

C.I.R.C.K.L.E. stands for Connecting Ideas and Resources: Creating Kids to Lead and Empower. C.I.R.C.K.L.E. is a venture that will teach youth how to write grants so they will be able to apply for grants to get funding for thier business or organization ideas that steam from the group dialogue discussions that youth from three counties in Michigan will discuss. The groups will focus on problems in the community and will create solutions and implenment programs, businesses, or organizations that will make a difference.

Lorena y Luís tienen un grupo de niños/as uno de jóvenes. Con el grupo de niños/as vienen realizando presentaciones teatrales, skech, mímicas, etc. en fechas especiales como día de la madre, navidad, pascuas, día del niño, entre otras. La idea es extrapolar esas actividades al grupo de jóvenes, que se muestran muy interesados con la posibilidad de hacer producciones de ese tipo.

In February, my friends and I launched a youth venture called Chair Advocates in brooklyn area. Our mission is to raise awareness of different types of adaptive and assistive technology available to people with mobility impairments. Chair Advocates also offer financial assistance to families of people with disabilities who has low income. Our story comes from all different directions coming together onto a single path. Nine years ago Hannah Martin, CHAMP President, was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. At around that same time, a few states away, Dana Sperber, CHAMP VP, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Through years of coping and adjusting to living with our illnesses we both ended up at separate summer camps pertaining to our respective diseases. Both of us had been involved in the national foundations around our illnesses and helping to fundraise and advocate on that level.

Currently some 300,000 children around the world are being denied their childhoods. Kidnapped from their homes and forced into armed conflicts as both combatants and sexual slaves, child soldiers have stories which are rarely told. While issues such as HIV/AIDS and global poverty rightfully have a place in the public arena, many of us students are completely unaware of this concealed reality in which children our age and younger are forced to kill in order to survive.

Our goal as a non-profit organization on campus is to begin an important discourse by telling these children’s stories.

I founded the Climate Action Club in September 2007. I lead and organize our projects, and I coordinate events. The Climate Action Club is divided into small groups, and each group has a leader who is one of the club members. Even though I'm part of each group, the group leader gathers materials, contacts people, and does research for that specific project.
