Get $250 to fund your project!

Hey guys,

I happen to came across this scholarship and I thought it would be a great way to get some funding for your project AND at the same time test your knowledge about the pressing issues of our environment. Have anyone saw the movie An inconvienient truth? If you did then take the quiz! It's that easy.

Here's the details...

The Common Knowledge Think Green Scholarship - An Inconvenient Truth Contest is open to high school students, college students and parents. To be eligible for the award you must register at the Common Knowledge site and participate in a quiz based on your knowledge of the movie An Inconvenient Truth and its associated website, www.theclimateproject.org.

Quizes will begin on April 5, 2008 and end on April 20, 2008. Please visit the sponsor's Web site for additional information.

Good luck!!

Beautiful images of nature. How could we destroy this?

I came across this video while looking around online for some environmental footage. Though I wish it stressed things like using cloth bags, it has some great tips for what to do with the waste that you do have! Check it out!!

NOMINATE A VENTURER FOR THE BARRON PRIZE!

Nomination deadline is April 30
Website: http://www.barronprize.org/

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes seeks nominations for its 2008 awards. The Barron Prize honors young people ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive difference to people and our planet. Each year, ten national winners each receive $2,000 to support their service work or higher education. Nomination deadline is April 30. For more information and to nominate, go here.

Why have the candidates not talked about environmental issues as much recently? Democrats of course, put environmental protection in their agenda because of their party base, but they have not talked about it as much.
In my opinion, John Edwards is the most environmentally friendly of the Democrats and John McCain is the most environmentally friendly of the Republicans.

The only way, as Al Gore says, for candidates to take the environment problem seriously and to put it on their agenda when they become President is for us the voters, to pressure them about it.

So, here is what I'm asking you to do. Have everyone you know in New Hampshire or a state that candidates will be going to soon to button-hole the candidates on the environmental issues. In their meet-and-greet sessions, ask them questions like, "What will you do to help the environment?" or "How do you plan to address the environment alongside other concerns?" or "How important is the environment to you? Why?"

It is imperative that we start this grass-roots action or the next President won't address this problem and it cannot afford to be ignored any longer.

So, please remind everyone - even those who can't vote to remind candidates of their duty to the well-being of our Earth and us.

Thanks!

Youth Venture has a tip sheet on this (see http://genv.net/en-us/grow_it/social_environmental_awarness/environment), but I also wanted to get some brainstorming done - a venture takes a lot of resources and sometimes those resources can be an unintentional burden on the environment. What do you think venturers should keep in mind while running their venture? What are some simple ways to cut back?
