Granny’s Back in Town……

Dec 24 2008 - 10:11am
Dec 30 2008 - 10:11am
Etc/GMT-5

At six in the morning waking up with sleepy eyes and dreamy thoughts, thinking about the unfinished homework and the test results, is how the children today start their day. United Arts Society (UAS) aims to break this monotonous routine and open a new world of creativity and art to widen the horizons of their minds.

Our first venture in Pune towards creating awareness for the same is a Winter Camp coined ‘Granny’s Courtyard’ which will introduce the children of our city to different branches of Art forms through fun filled activities like pottery, clay modeling, mask making, performing arts, etc. in a rustic atmosphere bringing them closer to nature. It also is an opportunity to make the younger generation more sensitive and responsive towards the senior citizens. The camp will be conducted on 27th, 28th and the 29th Dec 2008 at The Empress Botanical Garden. For more inquiries and registrations contact UAS on +91-9764005524, +91-9326654069.

Joining the dots. .. …. ..

Joining the dots. .. …. ..

Art elevation. A certain something that we all might have felt or experienced some time in our lives. It could just be an experience that stirs the senses in us to bring about a great feeling. Now if most have already been through a heartening art trip in our lives, then why not now talk about a different type of an art elevation. For those who might want to see a career path in art?

Fortunately there lies an answer at the bottom of the art pyramid for those wanting to elevate to the peak. And it starts with the fusion of brick and mortar. You take any talent (oops… sorry brick) and place it where it is required. Soon there’ll be many wanting to bond with this talent (oops… sorry again but read the last word as an Artist,) and they’d be willing to form the mortar, thus forming the very symbolic bond. But hold on, how will our pyramid be built with just these?

And for that we garner many similar artists together, bringing a host of talent to the fore. And this combined with the ever increasing need for art consumption we can build a foundation for our future structure. We were looking forward at taking art forward to places but now we look upwards to let it reach a pinnacle. That apex needs the base to be strong and now we bring forward a new concept to further that cause called “Artists Connect”.

Talent abounds in each and every one of us through the various experiences we have undergone in our lives. For many it lies latent and one doesn’t even know the presence or absence of it. A yet-to-be-discovered stand-up comedian couldn’t find his feet to stand on, a singing lark never found wings to fly up high, a masterpiece of a sculpture never materialized out of a beautiful imagination because the chisel never met the stone… Such instances occur too frequently even whilst the opportunities to leave a mark in them are far and plenty. The brick just has to discover a space to be placed in.

There is a demand for art in every aspect of life, from entertainment to learning to therapy and to the vast unknowns. And on the other hand we have talent that can outweigh the demand many times over. Artists Connect is a platform for any and everybody to not just find an opportunity in art, but also as a source of income. Artists Connect is the latest offering from United Arts Society and is aimed to realize for every individual, the zenith of his potential. Watch this space for more….

Inviting articles…

We would like to hear from you about your experience with art. We’ll be opening a new column in our weekly that touches hundreds of lives in various cities and now it would also feature your article too. Just post your experience with art that has made a difference in your lives and we’ll make sure it gets heard. Mail to info@unitedartssociety.org

Art: what’s in store?

Art: what’s in store?

We all ride out on the singular paths of our lives, rarely looking back or sidelong, seldom halting to retrospect and hardly realizing what we have missed on the way; to finally having reached the destination without having much to say about the journey. It seems folly, sometimes, to even think of having to spend time en route on something that doesn’t help getting quicker to the destination. But still we have nothing to say about the journey or the experience we felt unless the pursuit of the destination is all encompassing and gratifying. But hardly ever is it so, as our lives have so many destinations when coming to think of what every individual does.

Art, as a companion for the lonely traveler on his perennial journey, is undervalued by many as an unnecessary expense. But think of a pit stop where the food tastes insipid and how could you have enjoyed it better. Art in its nascent stage of today has this one spicy ingredient that could go a long way in enriching life and its many niceties. Without reasonable doubt it encourages creativity, inculcates an out-of-the-box perspective and reaps indispensable skills which does a great deal of good for any and everyone in whatever they are doing. For many also viewed with many varied angles as a form of recreation, entertainment, learning, personality-building, career, education, therapy and many more. And the benefits from any more than suffice for one. The very first footprint that art, especially in India would try to achieve is to be recognized as an important immutable part of people’s lives and not be regarded as a trifling matter.

We wouldn’t go so far as to say that Art is a necessity for all as in reality it is only for a very few, but still it is poised in that very direction. And when striving to further its progress in that very direction, art has a lot of ground to fill. With a far above the ground mark yet to be scaled it definitely needs a booster shot to augment the deficit. If art does aim to reach every household and touch everybody’s life, it needs the encouragement to bolster its strength. When looked into history and the how of the cellular phones gaining an almost permanent throne in everyday life, we would like to see the future with art juxtaposed in a very similar seat. In a manner of speaking we at United Arts Society are taking this thought very seriously and hence are rearing to have a go, with our determinations backing us up, to take art to the position it deserves.

DREAMS - everybody have, some see and ignore while some dare to go ahead and make them true. I do have dreams and one of being an artist and other of being to promote it. Since childhood I wanted to become an artist but in Indian society education is preferred over art and with me same happens I was asked to keep my dreams aside and took engineering studies. Later I realize that I need to catch hold of myself from my haziness to get something I want and I joined a part time theatre. After engineering got IT job but that did not stopped my dreams of pursuing art.

In a society like India where art and culture studies is often overlooked in the education system, I took a mission to promote the growth of arts and culture, with a vision to expose the society to over 150 forms of art may help breathe life into some of dying art forms, and formed a Social Venture named UAS – ‘United Arts of Society’. UAS is formed to cater different segments of society, in phases from small children to the Rest of the masses and it accomplished to do this and more since last two years of its existence in Bangalore. Now we are starting shortly in Pune and Mumbai too.

Through our Venture we want to Evolve the Art Sector into a lucrative Service Sector which will work in segments like, Education, Training, Career, Entertainment, Media, and Art Solution.

I always was fascinated by the world of entrepreneurs and one day want myself to be same and in this thought of daring to do something I keep reading magazines.

Our mission is not only to provide an end to end solution for all the art needs but also to provide a lucrative opportunity for anyone wishing to join and invest in their cause to promote arts and culture as an indispensable part of life keeping in mind hat there are many artist who are really good but are shy to come full length and adopt their passion as a carrier due to finances or lack of platform. We put up this to help potential artists find efficient avenues to turn their passions in to carrier. I request to all investors and planners to come forward and join us and share our ideas to work hand in hand to make this real big and showcase India’s hidden talent to the world.

Our plan is to evolve art into a lifestyle brand; UAS is set to provide a stage to different artists from different art backgrounds through its three main functions namely teaching and training, supply of artists & artist management, Artistic and creative solutions to the day today problem.. We will be making this possible with our extensive and exclusive screening process, all the artists affiliated to our initiative would be of the ‘premium’ art quality. This level of quality will help us to spark an art revolution and reposition arts as an intricate part of society.

This venture is definitely an innovative and lucrative opportunity for anyone wishing to invest and join us as we are launching not only a new company but also a cutting-edge new idea of quality & performance in the field of arts and culture

A Perfect World

Hey Art Fanatics,

We recently received this email from William Guilfoyle about a film project he is working on. He would like me to pass along his request (see below). If you have any questions, contact him directly. Youth Venture is not affiliated with this project in any way.

-YV_Jen

We is creating a short film with a simple story line that takes place in a perfect world. The film is called "A Perfect World." It takes place in a post-world peace world.

What's interesting about this film is that we are communicating with people from every country on Earth and asking them "What does a perfect world look like to you?"

The responses we receive for this question can be in the form of artwork and drawn designs as well as in the form of emails or even video response. When we ask, "What does a perfect world look like to you," we are asking people to literally imagine and create in their minds an image of world peace. How do people in a perfect world treat each other? Do they look each other in the eye and smile? Are there cars? If so, what kind? How do they look? What makes them go? How do the cities look? What do people do for fun?

Any and every aspect of reality can be considered.

"A Perfect World" is a global collaborative film being created with ideas from people in every country on Earth. This is the largest collaborative art project ever created. It's also the first time in history that there has been an attempt at using cinema to show what world peace might actually look like. Everything begins in the imagination. This first step, the imagining, is what we are asking you to do. We request that you share this
question with as many people as possible and send back to us their responses. We are asking this question to people of all ages. Responses can be sent to:

William Guilfoyle
A Pefect World Production
1725 Magnolia Avenue
Chico, California 95926-3244

or email: billy@everyoneisgoingconscious.com

Please email with any further questions you may have. We are grateful for your assistance in moving forward in one of the key steps to creating world peace.

Enjoy the day,
William Guilfoyle,
film director and humanitarian
