Interdependent Project Update

Greetings everyone - we just wanted to post an update on our teams progress.

We finally received the grant check a couple of weeks ago - we had expected it in January so our time-line is off. The good news is that during the weeks waiting we were able to make further changes in our strategy that we believe will really help get this organization off the ground. During this time we also entered a contest but unfortunately we did not win but the experience was good for us and we were used the opportunity to present ourselves to polish our mission and plan even further.

We are starting a list for Interdependent and a blog so we will post a link this week - we want to start building our network list and we invite everyone here on the YV network to join us.

The definition of “Interdependence” is: mutually dependent elements: relying on mutual assistance, support, cooperation, or interaction among constituent parts or members.

Sustainable living must come from a foundation of accepted interdependence and as you will see from our projects mission statement we intend to facilitate the popularization of this equation.

Main stream culture is open and ready to make a shift, but too often the message for change is couched in the long list of issues and problems we are facing. Our project is geared toward spreading the awareness’s of the solutions and alternative ways that are available and happening all around the world right now, with a special focus on community living and our day to day footprints.

The real issue we need to face when looking at how to solve the environmental problems is how to persuade social agents (such as people, corporations, and nations) to willingly adopt the practices that have been suggested from the technical side. The heart of the matter lies in the change resistance humans seem to naturally be endowed with.

There have been great efforts within the sustainability movement to move the mainstream through presenting different lifestyles and much progress can be seen in the markets of organic foods, natural medicine, green building, and hybrid products. We seek to contribute our efforts toward this trend and we see a day when everyone is rebuilding their communities around the EcoVillage model and celebrating their Interdependence every day!

Interdependent Project Mission Statement

When given only the dual option between dependence and independence, the human spirit naturally strives toward the most ennobled condition (independence) and shuns that which diminishes the sense of self (dependence). Interdependence is a fairly new word, yet it is the word that defines the reality of our world – all life is interdependent. Interdependence provides a third option to define ourselves by that if chosen can further evolve our race by allowing us to leap over the barriers of dualistic limitations, thus bringing us closer to our shared goal of excellence and value fulfillment as a species. Recognition of our Interdependence with each other and all life is the first step toward creating a sustainable world and future for our children.

Interdependent = Sustainable = Sustainability = Interdependence

The Mission of the Interdependent Project is to create an organization that promotes, advocates, facilitates, and supports the awareness and creation of Interdependent Communities within a sustainable living matrix.

Our Goals Are:
I. To create an “Interdependent” website that will be an online sustainable community networking hub designed to exclusively serve the global sustainability movement, small and large communities, and individuals who declare their “Interdependence” and share a deep commitment toward educating, building, researching, and living within the Interdependent Sustainable Living Matrix.
II. To be an organization that mimics the community model by creating “cottage industry” within the organization that serves to demonstrate “sustainable organization funding” as well operate within many other cooperative systems.
III. To promote, advocate, facilitate, educate, and support new and ongoing building of *EcoVillages and Interdependent Communities.
IV. To initiate and establish through grassroots networking, an annual:

Gearing up

This process is exciting - although we are just at the beginning stage of developing our organizations structure and launch strategy we can sense that this project is probably going to grow organically.
