Youth Venture

Our Venture idea is to create a book club that will allow teenagers to read books they enjoy and discuss topics in the book

Last summer for a few weeks I had a lot of free time at my disposal. For a while I was only playing video games but they started getting a bit boring and so I picked up a book. After finishing I began another book and by the end of summer I had read about twenty. Throughout my reading I was talking to some of my friends about the books and I realized that our conversations really helped me not only understand certain parts but also enjoy the stories more. I promised to continue reading during the school year and even made a list of books I would read before the year ended. Unfortunately, I did not keep up with my promise and found that after a couple of weeks into the school year I barely had time for reading. I heard about Youth Venture from a teacher and immediately knew that I could use this as an opportunity to start a lasting book club. The club would give students reasons to read in the school year, something most kids cannot do because of prior engagements with other clubs.
