About Us
The Illick's Mill project is working to transform a local Mill into an environmental education center and to practice environmental safe ways.
The Illick's Mill Partnership for Environmental Education is an innovative consortium transforming the City of Bethlehem's Illick's Mill into a community environmental center. We will establish a home for environmental action to preserve and protect the Monocacy Creek watershed and its abundant wildlife, and provide a model of environmentally sustainable practices and technology.
The Illick's Mill Project began in 2001, and ever since has been very successful in reconstructing the Mill, holding fundraisers and events, running a non profit organization, learning about and informing the public about environmental issues and how to preserve nature. The project is looking to complete the restorations to the Mill by December 2008 and to obtain a Certification of Occupancy. With this Certificate, the Mill will be able to house an environmental education center to inform the community and local schools on how to be environmentally safe and about the nature around them.
