About Us
We are a non-profit organization restoring a gristmill into an environmental education center.
We are a non-profit organization restoring a run down gristmill (Illick's Mill) into an environmental education center. Our venture, the Enviro-Passage: Going Up? , is going to be a major feature and educational attraction in the Illick's Mill Environmental Education Center. The Illick's Mill Project is a group of high school students who are restoring a gristmill into this environmental center. The mural is going to be on the staircase walls from the basement to the top floor of the building. It will consist of paintings according to the outdoor surroundings and what floor it is on. The basement's staircase walls will be a mural of dirt and rocks with underground animals, insects, and roots of plants. As the staircase ascends, the mural will change to above ground images such as grass, bushes, trees, and animals. The top part of the staircase will have a mural of the tips of trees, birds, and clouds. The mural will be painted on BioFiber Wheat (also known as wheat board), which is a "green" product. The wheat board is made from wheat straw and has a smooth surface with a fine fiber pattern and golden-yellow hues.
