About Us
The Illick's Mill Project is a non-profit organization that is devoted to helping the community learn more about environmental education.
The Illick's Mill Partnership for Environmental Education is an innovative consortium transforming the City of Bethlehem's Illick's Mill into a community environmental center. We are establishing a home for environmental action to preserve and protect the Monocacy Creek watershed and its abundant wildlife, and provide a model of environmental sustainability and technologly.
In 2001, Liberty High School teacher Karen Dolan, along with a dedicated group of students, began the Illick's Mill Project. The goal of the project is to finish the restoration of the Mill and open it to the community as an environmental education center. As the project procceds into its eighth year, students reached a great milestone of receiving a Certificate of Occupancy for the Mill. Funds continue to be raised by students to further outfit the Mill into a environmental education center.
