About Us

The goal of our Venture is to host a seies of benefit concerts (3-4 a year) in order to help local charities.

The name Blackstone originates from our band which is also called Blackstone. Our group consists of three members myself Kevin (President), Justin (Treasurer), and Evan (Publicity). We began working on our Venture in Early 2007, we got a bit side-tracked, however we have recently been aproved by panel.

How does your group impact your community?

We believe that music is a dying art, it often goes underappreiciated and overlooked. We are determined to get musical talents the recognition they deserve. In addition, we believe that in our modern society, kids need a place where they can have fun without being tempted by drugs and alcohol.

How many people have been impacted by your group?

So far, mostly direct family and friends. As I said, we have just gotten off the ground.

What we really enjoy about being young changemakers is...

Proving to the world that the youth are powerful assets that should not be overlooked. We as the youth can make a positive change to society.

3 Month Survey

Describe your recent Venture activities. What have you accomplished since selection?

Thus far, we have mainly been focusing on finding the right date to have our show and strategically placng them on days where no other school activities are planned in order to get the most possible atendees. Also we have been working diligently to come up with a lineup of performers that will allow us to appeal to all musical tastes.

Have you faced any difficulties? Were you able to solve them? If so, how? If not, what would have been helpful to you?

One of the main dificulties we are facing is scheduling issues. It is hard for us to find a date that allows the maximum number of people to come to our show. Also we have had a tragic loss of a team member who decided to go to private school.

What upcoming plans do you have for your Venture? How will your Venture continue to benefit the community?

Our main focus right now is our upcoming show which we be in mid-November. We are working on creating a line-up of bands and finding a good venue to play at.

Describe your relationship with your Ally and your Partner Organization.

We have not contacted our ally in a while becuase we don't feel like we need his assistence until we start setting up for our concert. He also has a very busy schedule due to his touring band.

One of the most important tools the Youth Venture has supplied us with is the Youth Venture website Genv.net. The website has allowed us to network and learn more about the other Youth Venture teams in our area. We are also able to contact these teams through the website and collaberate and form new and exciting ideas.

What could Youth Venture do to help you even more?

The only thing we can possibly think of is making the selection process more rigid and push our thinking even more so we have a better idea of what the reality is of what we are going to have to do.
