Youth Venture invites YOU to submit a workshop proposal for the upcoming 2nd annual National Youth Venture Summit to be held Friday, June 26 to Monday, June 30, 2009 at MIT, Harvard and Boston University in Boston, MA. Workshop sessions will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28.
The conference brings together 200 current and former Youth Venturers and young leaders interested in launching a Youth Venture, as well as the adult allies and professionals who support young changemakers from throughout the United States.
Attendees participate in skill-building and Venture-strengthening workshops, engage in meaningful dialogue to share experiences and perspectives, and network with each other, to identify common areas of interest and ways to collaborate.
Selected presenters will conduct a 60-minute workshop at the National Summit. Each workshop is attended by approximately 30 youth and/or their adult allies. You may submit more than one proposal, and we may provide feedback on your workshop concept.
Workshops must:
- Be 60 minutes in length
- Address a topic that is pertinent to youth or their adult allies
- Contain clearly stated, practical learning objectives
- Have an interactive format that includes audience participation/discussion
- Provide reference materials or other handouts to participants
- Be fun and informative
Workshop proposals may address any subject affecting Venturers and other social entrepreneurs.
Suggested workshop areas include, but are not limited to:
- Individual Skill-Building- Resume writing, Facilitating meetings
- Venture Strengthening- Incorporating or formalizing a Venture as an organization, Effective fundraising techniques, Working with the media, Marketing tips
- Knowledge-Sharing- Multicultural awareness, Understanding climate change
- Networking- Developing partnerships, Recruiting and retaining volunteers
