About Us

United Way Tri-County and Youth Venture have teamed up to introduce area youth to the power of becoming young changemakers.

Our mission is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. United Way of Tri County (UWTC) provides service in 34 communities throughout Norfolk, Middlesex, and Worcester Counties in Massachusetts. UWTC formed a partnership with Youth Venture to encourage and guide middle and high school students in Worcester County to create, launch, and lead their own community-benefitting organization, club or team - a Venture.
A Venture is a team of young people, ages 12-20, who initiate and lead positive, social change in their school and/or community. They do this by applying their own interests, passions and talents to create a solution to a problem or a need that they themselves have identified in their community. Teams present their ideas before a panel of community members and leaders, and when approved they receive up to $1,000 in seed funding from United Way of Tri-County to launch their community-benfitting Venture.
These youth-led organizations are ongoing, they can not be a one time or a short term project. UWTC and Youth Venture will work together to support and guide these young changemakers as they work to build their Venture. Young people who experience leading positive change in their community are likely to continue doing so through their adult lives, because they know they are capable, powerful, and committed to improving their world.
