Green Teen History!

A GREEN TEEN HISTORY:
Green Teens started as a conversation around the lunch table between co-founders Jessie Mehrhoff (GreenTeensJessie), Kelsey Sullivan (GreenTeensKelsey), and Lindsay Haythorn. The girls decided that though our community prided itself on being environmental, it was not reaching out to the youth or showing adults what simple ways they could tweak their daily life in order to “live green”.
The girls applied for a Youth Venture Grant in January, 2007—by March, 2007 Green Teens was launched, had $1,000.00 to help complete our primary projects, and was on its way to becoming an official E.O. Smith Club.
Green Teens started out focusing on stopping the use of plastic bags in our area. We used the money from the first YV check to purchase Eco-Bags (a.k.a. Cloth Bags) Green Teens has held fundraisers such as selling cloth bags with our club name, pictures, quotes, etc in order to raise money. Since many stores are now providing cloth bags at a very cheap price, we are seeing more and more of them appearing and are extremely happy! We still do this, but in the past few months, the club has taken on some other projects as well. Here is some info on what we are doing now!
