Every child gets to pick out their very own book, and we add a bookplate to the book with the child's name on it. This is a great way to make the experience special. Mark Teague, famous author and illustrator, was kind enough to make a super cute bookplate for My Own Book. This makes the experience even better for the children.
In our country many, many children do not have a single book of their own. Through My Own Book we are working on getting books to children.
We only give out brand new books. We think the smell, feel, and look of each book is important to the child. We want them to know that reading is special, and each book is a treasure.
