My Own Book- Sharing the Joy of Reading
Hi:
We've got a lot going on with our venture right now. Here is some of our big news:
-our Fall into Reading Night, made possible by a grant from Target, was a huge success- our best event ever!
-the families in the Fairfield Suisun School District donated over 1,800 books through a district wide book drive
-Kyle spoke on WJMF 88.7 radio station about running a non-profit organization
-our next event is 12/17 at Bransford Elementary. We'll be reading & distributing books
-the Fairfield Library is hosting a Reading is Sweet event on 12/20 showing off the fantastic gingerbread houses that folks have generously contributed. Teens from Armijo High School and girl scouts will be on hand to read and distribute books
- we won a Youth to Youth Do Something Grant. We will use the money to buy books!
- we've recruited new volunteers but we are always looking for more! Please let us know if you'd like to read & distribute books
-we've re-designed our website- check it out at www.myownbook.net- there is even video of Brady!
BIG NEWS!
- We have distributed over 15,000 books so far!
- We are one of 30 finalists for a BestBuy@15 grant. There will be 15- $10,000 winners! If we win we will be able to buy LOTS of books!
