The Silence of Hatred - A poem by Xavier Honre
The Silence of Hatred
***It's the silence we speak that allows hatred to dominate our lives***
Hatred, a sound of silence
That fills the worlds ears,
Damning those who speak out
Against the wide spread fears.
It's gays, it's blacks, and Arabs too,
That are blamed for life today,
And people think that killing them
Will make it go away.
But truth be told, it's none of them,
For they are not at fault,
Fear has caused this life today,
This is the result.
So further more we push away
Our neighbors and their lives,
Hoping that we'll save ourselves,
Regardless of who dies.
The truth is right in front of us,
But we refuse to see,
For hatred has convinced us
That we shall not be free.
We like to say we're pure at heart,
A good person and a friend,
But we'll only care for ourselves
In the very end.
So we continue on with our lives,
In silence, dark and cold,
Praying, hoping everyday,
That the truth will soon be told.
For when that man, or woman too
Takes a stand so tall,
We'll finally break our silence,
To catch them when they fall.
So alone we wait in silence,
For the person who sets us free,
Until the day I realize,
The world's waiting on me.
