So today I took the upcoming team KRS Salon to Crossroads to see if they could help each other out. KRS Salon is a group that want to start working with local homeless shelters, giving out free haircuts to people in need, clothing/food drives, and doing educational games with kids. Basically they want to help people get up on their feet but they’ve been having trouble getting their phone calls returned, so last week I visited Providence’s main shelter (Crossroads) and they loved the idea and asked the team members to come in today for a tour of the area and to talk about what they would need.
It could not have been a more perfect setup. The shelter was huge and everyone we talked to seemed confident they could find KRS a place to set up, they were even willing to help them find donations to help get them started. I’m really excited about this team, they’ve hit a bunch of snags in the last two weeks, from issues in the team to logistics to delegating tasks and getting organized. So for them to be getting to this point is, for me, a big deal, it makes me really happy that they’ve kept working on it for so long and have been so determined. I’m really proud of them.
So I’m going to set up a panel for them in the next few weeks, they’ll go over their budget and make sure everything is in order, but at this point there shouldn’t be anything holding them back. I’m excited for them.
