The Experience we share…

This Week’s Art form: Try it yourself!!!

The New Year is here and it’s time for making resolutions. But most of us make them but don’t trudge up to see them become a habit. But the resolutions themselves are sky high and seem insurmountable, sometimes when we look at it from down below. But how would it look from the top, a reverse angle, to a new perspective of what we could, by our creativity and a little sense of space make from the ground below. A fascinating thought, maybe the birds and the Gold class flyers are wondering what we’re talking about. This week we would like to throw some light on art that can be viewed from the sky. Use simple but large objects, items like colorful clothes and almost everything that you can find in your storeroom, bring it all out into the open and lay it out to make a shape that is visible from your rooftop. While clinging on to the ground, it may seem that there’s a lot of confusion over proportions but when you try it a couple of times, starting with simple shapes to more complicated ones, then you could have your own piece of art in your backyard. We see it around us for instance in Film-sets where directors turn an ensemble of people into a piece of choreographed image. So here goes an out-of-the-box idea to have your view-from-the-top art.

Last Weekend at Kidzee center:

The weekend at KIDZEE began with a bang when the children learnt the right moves, the twists and the turns and the ooh-la-la’s with a session on Rock n Roll Dance by Sudeep and Kanchi. The session covered all the basics of Rock and Roll dance and within no time the kids were grooving to the music. The finale of the session was a Retro feel dance for 5 minutes which left everyone spellbound. This was continued by a soul stirring session on Poetry writing by Abhilash. An introduction was made about a form of poetry called Acrostic poetry. Here one just needs to pick any word and then every line in the poem begins with that word. Firstly kids picked up their names and tried to get the concept right. Then they were given a word which everyone had to use in the Acrostic poetry form. And it was a pleasant surprise to see the kids picking up so fast. The session saw many budding poets. This was again followed with newer words like Chritmas and NewYear and each time it only got better than earlier. One of them is published along with this week’s edition of the Weekly Noise. So go ahead and see for yourselves

On Sunday a Theatre session on creativity was conducted by Siddhant. This session was extra interesting because, this time children were not confined to the boundaries of the four walls, but their imaginations were left to soar free out into the open world where the session took place. There were some exercises on creativity to bring out the latent talent in the children and they enjoyed it like anything. Finally after the session came to a close, everyone was left asking for more. But then the next session began which was on Bharatanatyam, conducted by keerti Ramgopal. The session began with the history dating back to the lore of Hindu mythology. Then the meaning of the word ‘Bharatanatyam’ which is split as Bha- Bhav (expressions), Ra- Raag, Ta- Taal (beats) and Natyam- dance. Then the session continued where she taught how beautiful and innate representations of things like a tree, flower, bees, birds, deer, elephant are shown through bharatnatyam. And this whole thing culminated in a beautiful five minute dance sequence starting with a prayer, then a sequence of steps representing a beautiful jungle scene and lastly namaskaram.

What’s happening this weekend…

In the week that’s still to come, we’re conducting a theatre session at British council Library beginning at 10.00 am up to 1.00 pm for the first batch and from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm for the second batch.

Bye Bye!!! 2007:

And lastly, to our dear readers, we wish a very Happy and Prosperous New Year and hope everyone had an enjoyable and memorable Christmas. As the year drifts into the very few last days, one can’t help but remember the journey from the very beginning. And the feeling that remains along with happiness and contentment is a rhetorical question, ‘Who would have thought... Whoever would have thought...?’ We thank everyone who has been a part of this journey and made it all the more enjoyable and memorable. Cheerios!
