And so it ends!
Well! I haven't posted a blog in a REALLY long time, but today we entered the final stage of our Venture.
Again, due to lack of interest in the venture from the Jones student body, we (Nadia, Amanda, Stephanie) did our own Ventures and involved individual students and members of the community. When trying to launch this venture we found that apathy is a HUGE problem when trying to involve people (especially teenagers- some of whom seem to be apathetic about many things). Though we didn't cut down the apathy, we did expose some people to our project and the idea of community service, which is a start.
Let's review what we've done!
1. Amanda provided lunch for three days at a not-for-profit camp at her church that helps kids learn.

2. Nadia and Stephanie organized and served dinner at a homeless shelter near our neighborhood with help from their friends Susan, Amanda, Mrs. E and Mrs. J as well as Nadia's mom and dad. The dinner was a huge success and the people who attended were very grateful. They were also very full! We had tons of food and everyone ate lots!
3. Nadia and Stephanie -with help from their friends Maddie & Elizabeth and Nadia's parents- made blankets for the kids at Hope Children's Hospital. We sewed some little ones for toddlers and cut fleece ones for teenagers.
Which brings us to the very final stage of our venture. Today my mom and I delivered 16 blankets to the Hospital where they were warmly received by a representative from the Child Life department. The best news is we still have material to make more blankets! We'll be making more fleece blankets for older kids very soon.
