What is the purpose of Art?
Hi guys,
Open question - so...why do we have art? Is art only visual art, or does it encompass literature, music, and other forms of expression?
Some people might argue that art is only for decoration, indulgence, leisure. It is not a necessary part of survival - that is left to the scientists, the mathematicians, the politicians...
So what do you think? Would society function without art? Why or why not?
Is art in some ways entertwined with the more rigid studies of life - science, math, etc.? How so?
