Hey Youth Venturers!
One of the next steps while starting and building your Venture is to seek out opportunities to financially support your team and its mission. Though we at Youth Venture give you a head start, in order to make sure your Venture stays afloat and continues to be successful, eventually you and your team members will need to look for grants and other funding opportunities.
Here are a few grant/award opportunities to start out with, and I'll continue to look for more and keep them listed on this blog. Good luck!
1) State Farm Good-Neighbor service-learning grants:
Youth Service America is extending the deadline to apply for the annual State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grant, supported by State Farm Companies Foundation. The new deadline is THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16th. Grants of up to $1,000 are available to support youth (ages 5-25), teachers, or school-based service-learning coordinators in implementing service-learning projects for Global Youth Service Day 2008.

2) 2008 Harris Wofford Awards:
Youth (ages 12-25) have the chance to win $500 awards for him/herself and a $500 award for the non-profit organization of his/her choice. The Awards (sponsored by State Farm Companies Foundation) recognize extraordinary achievements in three categories: Youth Organization (nonprofit, corporate, foundation), and Media (organization or individual) for actively contributing towards, "making service and service-learning the common expectation and common experience of every young person.” Award winners will be honored and presented with an award of recognition at the 19th Annual National Service-Learning Conference in Minneapolis, MN. Travel arrangements, including airfare and accommodation, will be provided for each award recipient. The deadline to apply is October 19.
