Youth Venture is looking for on-site and virtual volunteers for the following positions and programs:
1. SELECTION PANELISTS
Experience a Youth Venture Selection Panel: Youth Venture is seeking judicious adults of any background to join the Youth Venture Selection Panel, the panel to which two to four youth teams present their Venture Action Plan for evaluation. Selection panels occur either live or virtually over the phone, depending on where the venture teams are located. A panelist will receive the venture applications in advance and will be able to question the teams before participating in the final round of decision-making with their fellow panelists.
The time commitment is approximately 3 hours per panel (one hour for reading the selection booklet and up to 2 hours for the panel participation). Panels are launched throughout the year as teams in the pipeline become ready to present. While some months are busier than others, at least one virtual panel is offered every 2-3 weeks. Live panels occur most frequently in New York, and occasionally in Concord, NH; Leominster, MA; Seattle, WA; and Washington, DC.
Participating in a panel will allow a volunteer to get right to the heart of Youth Venture and play an important role in a short amount of time. If you want to help young people to create positive change in the world, please download and complete the YV Volunteer Interest Form and contact Amie Montemurro at amontemurro@youthventure.org
2. TECHNICAL ALLIES PROGRAM
Technical Allies is a program that hosts a series of teleconference workshops where “experts” in particular fields connect with Youth Venture Teams to provide advice on a variety of topics such as marketing, event planning, volunteer recruitment, etc. Workshops are held twice a month over the phone (dates vary) and are one hour in length. Technical Allies can be lawyers, artists, businessmen and women, writers, anyone with acquired skills who is willing to share them with our young people. The TA Program has two components:
Special Guests: This program presents an opportunity for Venturers to ask experienced entrepreneurs and venturers questions pertaining to their technical field in a workshop atmosphere. The workshops are one hour (plus prep time), are held over the phone, and are facilities by a Youth Venture staff member. This is an excellent opportunity for Technical Allies with limited time.
E-Advisors: E-Advisors are committed to responding to Venturers’ questions via email. Youth Venture staff relay emails from Venturers to Allies in relevant technical fields who can answer their question within 48 hours. This requires a long-term but flexible commitment to Youth Venture. The strength of a TA’s impact is dependent on the level of involvement and dedication. The approximate time commitment is 3-5 hours a month.
For more information and to volunteer for either of these programs contact technicalally@youthventure.org or visit the Technical Ally program profile. If you are interested in volunteering, please download and complete the YV Volunteer Interest Form.
