N.A.V.I.G.A.T.E.
Victor, Maria, Juve, Davis, and Ulises felt that many immigrant high school students were given inaccurate information about attending college. In many cases, they noticed that immigrant Latino students were getting discouraged and assuming that college was not an option for them. In an effort to encourage these Latino students to achieve their dreams and realize that there is hope for them to attend the colleges and universities of their choice, the students launched NAVIGATE as their Youth Venture. NAVIGATE, which stands for Necessary And Valuable Insight to Gain Access To Education, provides pre-college Latino students with the tools they need to make the college admission/financing process easier. They also increase awareness and affect policy by lobbying the State Legislation in partnership with the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless.
