MLK DAY OF SERVICE
King Day of Service is transforming the federal holiday honoring Dr. King into a national day of community service. The aim is to make the holiday a day ON (not a day off), where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to improve lives, bridge social barriers, and move our nation closer to the "Beloved Community" that Dr. King envisioned. With thousands of projects planned across the country, the 2009 King Day of Service on January 19th promises to be the biggest and best ever! YV is participating in several service projects across the country on MLK Day. Are you involved in one of them?
Get started at www.mlkday.gov to join an existing project in your area or register your own. This site has a number of valuable resources that can help you including prior to the big day: planning, marketing, fundraising and media tools; a project tool where you can manage volunteers; and new radio PSAs.
Share your Day of Service plans and photos with YV at yvfellowship@youthventure.org or post them on your GenV profile.
